Lady Leopards Split with John Marshall & Marlington in Season Finale – Girls Golf
Marlington 175, Louisville 179, John Marshall 233
The Louisville Leopards took on the John Marshall Monarchs (West Virginia) and host Marlington Dukes in a tri-match to conclude the regular season Thursday at Tannenahuf Golf Club. Louisville fell to host Marlington 175-179, but defeated John Marshall 179-233. With the split, the Lady Leopards finish the regular season with a mark of 17-2.
Alexis Ralston shot a team low 43 to lead Louisville. Abby Davis also shot a 46 and Katie Bice, Madison Gruber, and Erin Strouse all shot 46 each to round out the Lady Leopards top scores. Also participating in Varsity for LHS were Maddy Fowler who shot a 52 and Lauren L’Amoreaux who tallied a 56.
The Lady Dukes were led by match medalist Erica Headley who shot a match best 42. Rounding out Marlington’s top four scorers were Bella Warner 43, Kaitlyn Engelhorn 44, and Jayden Mitchell 46.
The Leopards have now lost three straight against the Dukes. However, Louisville still leads the all-time series 10-5 with the series is now dead even when the two teams play at Tannenhauf at 4-4.
The Monarchs were led by Laruen Tekely who shot a team low 55. Rounding out John Marshall’s top scorers were Lakyn Parker 57, Savannah Wood 58, Savannah Richards 63. This was the first ever meeting between Louisville and John Marshall out of West Virginia.
The 17 regular season victories by the Lady Leopards is their second most all-time. They went 18-1 (.947) during the 2016 season and 14-1 (.933) during the 2018 season.
