The #15 seed Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball Team was upset by the visiting #27 seed Hudson Explorers 55-53 Sunday Afternoon in the DI Massillon Perry Sectional Semifinals at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville finishes the 2021-22 campaign with a final record of 15-7.

Hudson Advances on Hileman Buzzer Beater


Jenny Can Cleaning AdWith the game tied at 53-53 in the final seconds, junior small forward Emma Hileman pulled down an offensive rebound in the center of the lane and immediately laid it back up off the glass. The ball spun around the rim and fell through the net as the buzzer sounded to lift the Lady Explorers past the Lady Leopards.

Hudson improves to 13-9 on the season with the win and will travel to take on the #8 seed New Philadelphia Quakers in the DI Massillon Perry Sectional Finals on Thursday, February 17 at 7:00 PM. 


Adelman Scores Game High 20 in Final Game

Senior center Kelsey Adelman made 3 three-pointers and poured in a game high 20 points in her final game as a Lady Leopard. Sophomore shooting guard Brooke Haren also dropped in 17 for Louisville. Other top LHS scorers included freshman shooting guard Courtney Barwick and junior shooting guard Taryn Miglich who tacked on 4 points each.

The Lady Explorers jumped out to a 15-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter before the Lady Leopards rallied to trim their deficit to 27-26 by halftime. The two teams played even in the third quarter with each scoring 12 points and Hudson took a 39-38 lead into the final stanza as a result.


Four Finish in Double Digits for Hudson

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdSenior point guard Ali Menendez scored 9 of her team high 13 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Explorers. Menendez and senior small forward Constance Loring each made clutch three-pointers to help Hudson edge Louisville 16-15 in the final period. Loring would finish the afternoon with 11 point for HHS.

Senior shooting guard Delaney Digeronimo hit a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter and finished with 12 points for the game. Small forward Gracie Merrick also notched a double digit afternoon with 10 points for the Lady Explorers.


Lady Leopard Basketball Tournament History

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdLouisville is now 46-46 all-time in tournament play dating back to 1977. Since entering Division I in 2008, the Lady Leopards are 7-15 in postseason play which includes a 2-2 record when hosting tournament games at LHS.

Head Coach Jeff Couto is now 12-10 in the postseason and he has now compiled 14 or more wins in his last six seasons as the Louisville High School Girls Varsity Basketball Coach.
