Louisville Halts Hoover at the 1 Yard Line

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe game remained scoreless through the first quarter as both defenses held firm. The Vikings threatened to score first in the second quarter after being aided by a questionable pass interference penalty that helped them convert a 4th-and-2. Hoover would move the chains again to setup 1st-and-goal, but eventually faced 4th-and-goal from the 3.

The Vikings looked to pound the ball up the middle, but Xavier Berdella and Drake Wilson were there to make the stop of the Leopards at the 1 yard line.

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdIn the shadow of their own goal posts, the Louisville offense traveled the maximum in orchestrating a 12 play, 99 yard scoring drive. The series was highlighted by a 45 yard run by quarterback Chase Wilson flipping the field from the Leopards own 15 to the Viking 39. Several plays later, Grimm connected with Caison Grimm for a 10 yard completion on 4th-and-5 to setup Louisville 1st-and-goal at the 10 yard line.

Following a spike to stop the clock, Wilson hit his brother Drake Wilson in the endzone for a 10 yard touchdown pass to put the Leopards on the board first with just 11 seconds to go before half. Hunder Fetrow converted the extra point and Louisville would take a 7-0 lead into the half.

Wilson Throws 3 TDs to 3 Different Receiver

Equitable Advisors - Bryce MathieOn the second play of the second half Cody Zahler ball hawked a Hoover pass over the middle and returned the interception into Viking territory to setup the Leopards with prime field position. Chase Wilson kept the ball on an option play to convert a 3rd-and-4 and then hit Grimm again for a 16 yard reception down the North Canton 18.

On the next play, Wilson rifled a pass to Jonathan Greathouse who found the gap in the Viking defense and ran the rest of the way for a touchdown. Fetrow’s extra point again was up and good giving Louisville a commanding 14-0 advantage with 5:33 remaining in the third quarter.

Later, Wilson moved the chains on a 3rd-and-7 option run to the left to keep a Leopard fourth quarter scoring drive alive. Two plays later, he hit tight end Jake Baker over the middle of the field. Baker slipped through five Hoover tacklers and rumbled the rest of the way down the left side line for a 49 yard touchdown completion. Fetrow’s third successful boot put Louisville up 21-0 with 6:40 left in the contest.

Wilson would later throw his third touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter. He hit tight end Jake Baker

Louisville Defense Completes the Shutout

Romeo's Pizza Louisville, Ohio AdBack in the third quarter, the Vikings threatened deep in Leopard territory. Hoover actually reached the endzone, but a flag brought the play back and kept the zero on the Viking side of the scoreboard. On second down, Berdella blew up a toss to the left for a loss to push Hoover into a 3rd-and-12. Drake Wilson broke up a pass down the right sideline on the next play to bring up fourth down. The Hoover drive stalled when Berdella stopped the quarterback short of the sticks and Louisville took over on its own 21.

The Vikings defense forced a three-and-out and got the ball back once more before the third quarter ended. Hoover moved the ball across midfield, but the drive stalled shortly after that. Grimm made three consecutive tackles including stopping the quarterback short on 4th-and-5 at the Hoover 42 yard line as the third quarter clock ran out.

The Leopards shut down the Vikings on their final two fourth quarter drives. Louisville’s defense forced a punt after a three-and-out. The Leopards looked to run the clock out, but coughed up the ball on an exchange that was pounced on by Hoover’s Levi Solida. However, the Vikings would give it right back two plays later when Logan Galbraith intercepted a pass down the left sideline and returned it 21 yards to the Hoover 36 with 2:20 remaining.

Louisville ran the ball out the rest of the way in preserving their second shutout of the season.
