Highland Ends Leopards Magical 20-4 Season in Sectional

Highland 71, Louisville 67
The Louisville Leopards Boys Basketball Team’s magical season came to a close after a hard-fought 71-67 loss to the visiting Highland Hornets in the DI Copley Sectional Finals Saturday. With the loss, Louisville finishes the year with an overall record of 20-4.
Blake Hoover ended his high school career with a team-high 19 points to lead the Leopards. Drew Noble also poured in 16 and Chris Libertore hit 4 three-pointers & scored 14 for Louisville.
The two squads played even in the first quarter and went back-and-forth in the second quarter. The Hornets Ben Hauser got off 1 of his 3 made three-pointers a tick ahead of the buzzer to cut the Leopards lead to 33-32 at the break.
Just as they did against McKinley in the Sectional Semifinals, Highland pulled ahead in the third quarter. After falling behind 38-34, the Hornets used a 17-2 run to take a 51-40 advantage. Louisville would stop the bleeding and cut the deficit to 8 heading into the final period.
The never-say-die Leopards would rack up 22 points in the final eight minutes to shrink the Hornets lead to as little as two points. Louisville trailed 64-55 heading into the final minute, but threw down 4 three-pointers in the final 50.2 seconds to get within 69-67 with just seconds remaining.
However, Highland’s Kevin Greenhoe netted a pair of free throws with 0.4 seconds left to punch the Hornets ticket to Copley. They will take on top-seeded Jackson in the District Semifinals Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Greenhoe finished with 21 points, but teammate Brogan Scott led all scorers with 27. Hauser also finished with 11 for Highland who improves to 18-6 on the season.
