Louisville Plays Green to the Wire 58-56 – Boys Basketball

Louisville Leopards Boys Basketball Huddle 2018 Vs. Green Bulldogs

Green 58, Louisville 56

Louisville Leopards Basketball White Shirt - Beatty's Sports Christmas 2017The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team was edged by the visiting Green Bulldogs 58-56 Tuesday Night at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville now stands at 10-5 on the season.

Spencer Hall scored 9 of his team-high 13 points in the first half to lead the Leopards. Colton Jones also hit home 4 of Louisville’s 9 three-point baskets to finish with 12. Davis Burick also reached double digits with 10 and Brandon Wahl added 9.

The Bulldogs led 12-8 after the first quarter before the Leopards shrunk the deficit to 26-25 by halftime. Green pulled ahead by outscoring Louisville 22-15 in the third quarter to take a 48-40 lead into the final eight minutes.

In the fourth quarter, the Leopards rallied back to take a 56-55 lead with 1:43 left to play. Green attempted to stall with a 55-53 lead , but the Louisville defense forced them into a timeout. Jones tipped the ensuing in-bound pass on the baseline and Hall picked it off to give the Leopards the ball back. After a few passes, Burick threw a hard chest pass to Jones on the right wing. With a defender’s hand in his face, Jones buried his fourth three-pointer of the night to give LHS a one point advantage.

On the other end, a soft foul was called at the top of the key putting the Bulldogs Corey Oswald at the line for a 1-and-1. Oswald would bury both to put Green back out in front at 57-56 with just 90 seconds to go.

Shea Simmer stole an errant pass on the Leopards next possession giving the ball back to the Bulldogs. Green milked the clock some before drawing a foul for another bonus opportunity. But this time the shot was missed and Hall pulled down the defensive board for Louisville.

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdThe Leopards offense created a good look in the lane, but the potential go-ahead field goal banged off the iron twice and glass once before falling into the hands of the Bulldogs Donovan O’Neil. O’Neil was fouled immediately with 6.8 seconds to play and hit the backend of two double bonus free throw attempts.

Trailing 58-56, Louisville hustled across the timeline before calling timeout with 2.7 seconds left for one final chance. From the right sideline, Green’s Luke Pritchard used a perfectly timed leap to tip the inbound pass headed to Hall in the lane. Instead the ball ricochet backward near half court where Louisville’s Cameron King only had time to catch and shoot off his back foot. The attempt aligned perfectly, but fell just short off the front of the rim.

The Bulldogs (11-4) were led by Kaleb Martin who hit 3 three-pointers and scored a game-high 17. Garason Keeslar also made 4 triples to finish with 12 as Green made 9 shots from beyond the arch as a team. O’Neil and Oswald also tacked on 9 a piece for GHS.
