Terry Gooch Sets Louisville Leopards Track Discus Record at Dover Tornado Invitational

Dover Tornado Invitational: Boys – 3rd | Girls – 3rd

The Louisville Leopards Boys & Girls Track Teams both placed third out of 8 schools competing in the Beatty's White Leopards HatDover Tornado Invitational at Crater Stadium last Friday. The Boys finished with 74 points and the Girls finished with 66.5 points.

Terry Gooch broke a 44-year-old Louisville Track Record in the Discus with a throw of 158 feet, 5 inches. The previous record was held by John Simon who made a 157 feet, 9 1/4 inches throw during the Leopards 64-62 win over the Jackson Polar Bears in the 1972 season finale. Gooch finished in second place for the meet.

Other winners on the boys side included Nick Chaplik in the 3200 Meter Run and the 4×800 Meter Relay team consisting of Nick Chaplik, Noah Chaplik, Noah Murray, and Zach Fresenko.

Devin Kring also won the 300 hurdles for the Lady Leopards.

Dover Tornado Relays 2016 – Final Results

Boys: Louisville 68, West Branch 60

The Louisville Leopards Boys Track Team defeated the host West Branch Warriors 68-60 Tuesday Evening in Beloit. With the victory, Louisville improves to 2-1-1 on the season.

The Leopards only took first in 7 of the 16 events during the meet, but still pulled out the victory. Individual winners for Louisville included Noah Chaplik in the 1600 Meter Run, Logan Skolosh in the 400 Meter Dash, Zach Fresenko in the 800 Meter Run, Noah Chapliik in the 3200 Meter Run, and Terry Gooch in the Discus.

The 4×800 Relay (Nick Chaplik, Christian Hendricks, Ben Tornow, and Sebastian Hendricks) and 4×200 Relay (Jacob Steiner, Logan Skolosh, Michael Seaman, Korey Bowen)  teams were also victorious.

Girls: Louisville 65, West Branch 63

The Lady Leopards edged the Lady Warriors on the road Tuesday to improve to 3-1 in the NBC.
