Louisville Rallies in 4th, but GlenOak Surges in the End 49-41 – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting GlenOak Golden Eagles 49-41 Saturday afternoon at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville stands at 4-7 at the midway point of the regular season.

Baker and Tillett Combine for 25 to Lead LHS
Maggie Baker scored 8 of her team-high 13 points in the second half to lead the Lady Leopards. Baker made 2 of Louisville’s 3 three-pointers on the afternoon, hit 5 of 6 free-throw attempts, and also recorded 3 rebounds.
Ella Tillett scored all 12 of her points from the floor, secured 4 rebounds, recorded 2 steals, and registered another block defensively. Tillett also scored in every quarter.
Mikayla Salmons also added 9 points to go along with a team-best 4 steals and 2 assists. Mabel Kiko also tacked on 4 points, including a three-pointer in the fourth quarter, and led Louisville with a team-high 6 rebounds.
Freshman Lilly Seaman and Makayla Tanner rounded out the Lady Leopards’ scoring. Seaman added a fourth-quarter basket and tallied 2 steals for the game. Tanner split a pair of free throws in the final period to round out the Louisville scoring.
Lawson Scores Game-High 17 to Propel Eagles to Win
Khloe Williams scored all 9 of her points in the opening half, while also registering 3 rebounds and 3 steals for the game. The Golden Eagles led 12-7 at the end of the first before opening up a double-digit 26-15 lead at the break.
Melia Lawson scored in every quarter on her way to posting game-highs of 17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals, and a block to lead the Lady Eagles. Lawson made 3 three-pointers in the third quarter as GlenOak took a 35-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Louisville opened the final stanza on an 8-1 run, tying the game at 36-36 past the midway point of the fourth quarter. However, the Golden Eagles answered with a 7-0 run to take a 43-36 lead with less than two minutes to play. GlenOak went 7-for-10 from the free-throw line in the final quarter to ice the contest.
Jai’Anna Duncan made 4 of those free throws in the fourth quarter and finished with 6 points. Duncan also recorded 4 steals and had 3 rebounds.
Hannah Ecksmith and Sophia Giavasis also added 5 points each. Rounding out the scoring were Zoey Welch with 4 and Lauren Thomas with 3. Thomas matched Lawson with a game-best 5 steals as GlenOak recorded 19 steals as a team. Welch grabbed 5 rebounds, Ecksmith and Thomas each had 4 rebounds and a block, and Giavasis registered 3 boards to go along with 2 assists. The Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Leopards 33-24 for the game, which included a 21-8 edge on the offensive glass.
Louisville Vs. GlenOak Girls Basketball Series
The Lady Leopards have now dropped 9 of their last 10 matchups against the Golden Eagles dating back to the 2013-14 season. Louisville’s lone win in that stretch was a 62-40 home victory on December 9, 2023.
The Lady Leopards are 24-32 against GlenOak all-time, which includes a 13-14 record when playing at Louisville in the series.
