Girls Tennis 1-2 this Week on Eve of NBC Showdown
The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Tennis Team is 1-2 so far this week and are now 11-4 overall and 7-0 against NBC foes. Louisville fell at North Canton Hoover 4-1 on Monday, upended visiting Salem 5-0 on Tuesday, and lost a close 3-2 match to visiting Green Wednesday.
Despite the team outcomes, #1 Singles Player Gretchen Groves remained consistent as she was the only Lady Leopard to win all three of her matches this week. She won each match in straight sets.
Against the Quakers, all three singles players won their matches a perfect 6-0, 6-0. Winners included Groves, Sarah Robbins, and Kayla Pukys. The #1 Doubles Team of Alexis Pochubay & Jozie Scott also won perfect 6-0, 6-0 and the #2 Doubles Team of Alexis Wendt & Jessica Nyland dominated in a near perfect 6-1, 6-1 win. Winners from the match against the Bulldogs included Groves 7-5, 6-2 and Pukys 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Louisville will host Canton South Thursday in a match that will likely determine the outcome of the NBC. The Lady Leopards defeated the Wildcats on the road 4-1 earlier this year. Canton South is 13-2 overall, 6-1 in the NBC, and has won 4 consecutive matches. A victory would put Louisville in the Driver’s Seat for their fifth consecutive NBC Crown, a loss would create a tie for first place in the NBC Girls Tennis Standings.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Canton South Wildcats on Thursday, September 18 at 4:15 PM.
