Girls Lacrosse Edges CVCA, Keefe’s Save Preserves Win

The Louisville Lady Leopards edged the visiting Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals 5-4 in a thrilling Girls Lacrosse match Wednesday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 3-1 on the season.

Lady Leopards Goalie Celia Keefe blocked a potential game-tying shot with 12 seconds remaining and Alexa Oberster picked up the ensuing ground ball to preserve the win for Louisville. Keefe kept the Royals at-bay all night long as she recorded 11 saves in goal.

Emily Hollifield finished with a Hat Trick to lead the Lady Leopards offensively. Hollifield scored what proved to be the game-deciding goal with 15:51 remaining via an assist from Emily Shea. Shea would finish with a pair of assists and also found the net in the first half.

Oberster won 6 of 10 draws to give Louisville a crucial advantage in possessions. She also scored a first half goal, tallied an assist, and picked up a team-leading 5 ground balls. Shea and Mandy Wesely also registered 4 ground balls a piece.

CVCA (3-3) got contributions from all over. Goal scorers included Roni Watkins, Sami Hawthorne, Brenna Lowe, and Emily Atwood. Alana Reske and Breeze Swift also had assists for the Royals.
