Girls Basketball Wins NBC Opener Against Salem
Louisville 47, Salem 42
The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball team opened up league play with a 47-42 victory over the visiting Salem Quakers Saturday at LHS. With the win, Louisville is now 2-1 over all and 1-0 in the NBC.
Alexa Oberster led the Lady Leopards with a game-high 14 points and Abby Beaver also dropped in 13 points. Beaver hit 2 three-pointers and also made two big buckets to put the game on ice in the fourth quarter. Sarah Lairson rounded out Louisville’s top scorers with 8.
The Leopards rolled to a 13-6 advantage after the first quarter and pulled ahead to 29-15 at the break. Salem creeped back into the game by owning the third quarter 15-7, but would shrink the deficit no smaller than 5 points in the fourth quarter.
The Quakers (1-1, 0-1) were led by Leah Menegos who matched Oberster with a game-high 14. Rylee Leider also dropped in 13 and Chloe Cheresne hit 2 three-pointers & finished with 8.
With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Salem in 10 of their last 11 meetings which includes the last 6 games in the series at LHS. The Leopards now lead the all-time series 11-6, which includes a 7-2 mark at Louisville.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to West Branch to take on the Warriors on Saturday, December 5. JV will begin at 12:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 1:30 PM.
