Girls Basketball Drops Round 1 to Green

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting Green Bulldogs 47-43 Monday Beatty's White Under Armor Hoodie Louisville Leopards 2015Night at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 18-3 on the year.

Abby Beaver led the Lady Leopard with a team-high 12 points and a game-high 4 assists. Other leaders for Louisville included Emily Hollifield with 9 points & 8 rebounds, Sarah Lairson with 8 points & 4 steals, Sabryna Benzel with 7 boards, and Grace Jackson with a game-high 11 rebounds.

Both offenses struggled from the floor. Green shot just 32% (16 of 49), while Louisville made only 25% (16 of 62) of their shots from the field. The difference in the game came from beyond the arch. The Bulldogs made 6 of 18 (33%) three-pointers, while the Leopards put through just 2 of 10 (20%) shots from downtown.

Green hit 3 of those triples in the opening quarter as they took a 15-9 lead after the first eight minutes. Louisville snatched the lead back by halftime after winning the second quarter 19-10. The Bulldogs took back momentum in the third quarter and went ahead 40-34 at the end of three. They would hold their lead in the fourth and clinch the win.

Green (9-12) was led by Abbie Pearce who dumped in a game-high 18 points and made 3 of 6 shots Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videofrom the outside. Madison Jackson also dropped in 13 points & had 7 rebounds, Savanna Maynard finished with 7 points & grabbed 11 rebounds, Kristen McCausland dished out 4 assists, and Lilly Carson also pulled down 9 boards. The Bulldogs edged the Leopards 37-35 on the glass for the night.

With the loss, Green now leads the all-time series 4-3. This was the first ever meeting between the two squads played at Louisville. The Lady Leopards will look to flip the script when the two teams meet at LHS Saturday in the DI Walsh University Sectional Semifinals.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders for Senior Night on Wednesday, February 10. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.

The Lady Leopards JV Team won their fifth straight game in defeating the visiting Lady Bulldogs 44-31 Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videoat LHS Monday Evening. With the win, Louisville improves to 19-2 on the season.

Erin Hahn led the Leopards by pouring in a game-high 18 points. Alexis Beaver also scored 9 and Rachel Israel finished with 5 for Louisville.

The Leopard set the tone early as they dominated the first half 22-4. Louisville held Green to just a single field goal in the first quarter and shut them out completely from the field in the second period. The two squads played even in the third before the Bulldogs held a 15-10 edge in the fourth.

Green was led by Alyssa Sharp who scored a team-high 9 points. Erika Lovell also scored 8 and Brianah Mastriano added 6.

Thirty-one seems to be the magic number for the Lady Leopards JV Team. This is the fifth time that they have held their opponent to that exact total this season and on all five occasions they were victorious.
