Girls Basketball Drops Opener Vs. GlenOak

The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball team dropped their opener to the visiting GlenOak Beatty's Grey Long Sleeve ShirtGolden Eagles 51-28 Saturday Afternoon at LHS.

Sabryna Benzel led Louisville with a team-high 8 points. Alexa Oberster also scored 7 and Grace Jackson dropped in 5 for the Lady Leopards.

Led by Louisville’s great defensive play, the Leopards found themselves within 20-18 of the Golden Eagles at halftime. Emily Hollifield had several blocks to keep GlenOak at bay in the opening 16 minutes.

However, the second half was a different story. The Golden Eagles soared out of the locker room on a Order Leopard Nation Highlight Video10-0 run to take a 30-18 lead. GlenOak would outscored Louisville 20-6 in the third and also won the fourth quarter 11-4 to cruise to victory. The Eagles would scored double digits in all four quarters of the game.

GlenOak was led by Daishona Polk who hit 3 of the Golden Eagles 6 three-pointers and scored a game-high 17 points. Payton Brown also added 10 and Davina Shelton scored 9 for last year’s DI North Canton District Runner-Ups.

GlenOak has now defeated Louisville in three straight meetings. This was the 50th meeting between the two squads with GlenOak now leading the all-time series 27-23, which includes a 13-12 mark at LHS.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Lake to take on the Blue Streaks on Tuesday, November 24. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.

The Lady Leopards JV team rallied back from a double digit halftime deficit to take a 31-30 lead at the end of the third. However, GlenOak would outscore Louisville 17-9 in the fourth quarter to take the opener 47-42.

Alexis Beaver scored 12 of her team-high 20 points in the third quarter to lead the Leopards. Louisville Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videooutscored GlenOak 22-8 in that period which ended with Beaver making a buzzer-beating layup off an in-bound that came with just .6 seconds left.

Erin Hahn also broke double digits with 14 points and Hanna Lautzenheiser added 3.

The Golden Eagles were led by Jessica Hahn who dropped home a game-high 24 points. Hahn also made 4 of GlenOak’s 5 three-pointers for the game. Reyanna Rozier also had 6 points for the Golden Eagles and both Shara’e Rossgreen and Hannah Unkefer scored 4.
