Girls Basketball Defeats Dukes to Improve to 4-0 in NBC
Louisville 57, Marlington 44
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated the host Marlington Dukes 57-44 Wednesday Evening at MHS. With the win, Louisville improves to 6-1 overall and stays a perfect 5-0.
Sarah Lairson scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Leopards. Sabryna Benzel and Grace Jackson also poured in 10 each for Louisville.
The Leopards went ahead 19-7 after the first quarter and were in command the rest of the way.
The Dukes were led by Robin Campbell who scored a team-high 11 points. Alyssa Powers also scored 10 and Zoey Peck added 9 for Marlington.
With the victory, the Leopards have now taken 12 out of the last 13 against the Dukes. This was the 80th meeting between the two teams and Louisville now leads the all-time series 63-17 with a 33-6 record at Marlington.
Head Coach Garee McCully now owns a record of 99-63 (.611) since becoming the Leopards Coach in the 2008-09 season. McCully will look for his 100th career win Saturday when Louisville hosts undefeated Minerva (6-0, 4-0).
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Minerva Lions on Saturday, December 19. JV will tip-off at 12:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 1:30 PM.
