My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdLouisville Leopards Girls Basketball Head Coach Garee McCully will not return for the 2019-2020 season. This was confirmed by a job posting for the “Head Girls’ Basketball Coach ” position both on the OHSAA’s official website and the Louisville City School District’s website. The posting was officially added on Friday, May 10.

McCully has the second most coaching victories in program history with an overall record of 144-104 (.581) in 11 seasons. Only John Gresko with a record of 202-155 (.566) has more wins in his 16 season career from 1983-1999. McCully also finishes with the third best winning percentage of any coach only behind his predecessor Jeff Couto at .632 (127-74) and former Head Coach Greg Parrish at .647 (44-24).

McCully Guided the Lady Leopards to 4 NBC Titles

McCully’s teams won 4 NBC Titles in his first 10 years at the helm. His first two NBC Championships were won outright in 2010-11 and 2011-12. The Lady Leopards also shared the NBC crown with perennial powerhouse West Branch in 2012-13 and then with Carrollton in 2015-16. McCully was named NBC Coach of the Year in three straight seasons during their three-peat from 2011-2013. All-in-all he complied a record of 99-41 (.707) during a decade’s worth of NBC play. Louisville became an independent this past season and finished with a record of 11-12.

Louisville in Tournament Play Under McCully

The Leopard were in Division I throughout McCully’s entire head coaching tenure. They went 3-11 in DI tournament play highlighted by a Sectional Title in 2011. Louisville snapped Boardman’s decades long streak of winning at least one tournament game by defeating the Spartans 51-48 in the Sectional Semifinals. The Leopards then downed the Perry Panthers 53-37 at Alliance to earn their first ever Division I Sectional Title. Louisville fell to North Canton Hoover 64-46 in the District Semifinals the next week. McCully’s other tournament victory came on the road at Lake in 2018 when the Leopards defeated the Blue Streaks 41-35 in the Sectional Semifinals.

Girls Basketball Head Coach Job Posting on LCS Website

“The Louisville Leopards are a D-I Girls Basketball program competing as an independent school.  We are looking for a candidate that has had previous experience working at the varsity level, in an inter-scholastic coaching environment.   The candidate should be familiar with local and state regulations and eligibility standards.  Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop a strong, cohesive program and be able to cultivate a culture focused on academics, athletic excellence and moral character.  Qualified candidates shall possess effective communication skills, including the ability to establish rapport with parents, student athletes, administration, faculty and staff.  They should also possess effective organizational skills, be committed to being a positive role model on and off the court, and have the knowledge to grow an overall successful basketball program from youth to varsity level.  Candidates should hold or be willing to obtain all necessary certifications as required by the state and district.  All interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, resume, and references to Athletic Director, Terrie Horn, at terrie.horn@lepapps.org. This position will remain open until filled.”
