From the Cheerleader’s Perspective

Everyone usually thinks that cheerleading is simple, but in reality it is far from simple.  Four years in a row I tried out for cheerleading, but I only made it in my 4th year, and believe me when I say that it is a lot of hard work.  However, it is all worth it in the end.

Louisville’s cheer team competes at the NBC Cheer Competition every year and we work many long hours to go to one competition, show everyone what we got to bring to the floor, and bring home a trophy.  This year our Freshman and JV squads brought home 1st place trophies, while our Varsity and Combination squads brought home 2nd place trophies.  In order to bring these trophies home we spent countless hours making up the routines and perfecting every little detail.  We spent practices running smoothly. as well as some that were a little hectic because the pressure began to hit everyone (and it made people a little snappy).  The final week before NBC we truly worked our butts off with a six hour practice the Monday before, as well as practices after school and during basketball games when we got the chance to practice.

The moment you step out onto the mat at NBC your adrenaline is pumping through your veins and that is when you know the hours of practicing and conditioning is about to pay off.  You feel as if someone has lit fireworks within you and your ready to prove worthy of all your accomplishments.

If we believe in one another
We can only achieve our goals
If we work hard together as ONE!

We’re not just a cheer team
We’re friends to one another
When one of us is hurt, or down
We pick each other up, no frown!

When we step out on that floor today
Let’s show our best and unity to the crowd
Because not everyone can be like us
One for all and all for all, CHEER PROUD!!! CHEER LOUD!!! STICK IT!!!
