Freshman Football Victimizes Villa Angela-St. Joseph

Louisville Leopards Freshman Football Team 2016

Louisville 42, Villa Angela-St. Joseph 0

The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football Team shutout the visiting Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings Beatty's Blue Louisville Leopards Hoodie42-0 Thursday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 6-1 on the season.

The Leopards were unkind to the the guest Vikings from their opening drive on as they rolled up 42 points before the half. Two plays into the first drive Wide Receiver Davis Burick would take a short screen pass from Quarterback Colton Jones, weave his way across the field breaking tackles, and cross the goal line for a 46 yard touchdown reception. Ryan Pukys made a fantastic catch on the two-point conversion pass from Jones to give the Leopards an 8-0 lead.

Following a quick three-and-out by VASJ, Burick returned the ensuing punt 20 yards setting up the Leopards with great field position on the Vikings 30 yard line. The Leopards would once again waste no time getting down the field. Following some hard running by Nathan Guiley, Jones and Burick connected again for a 1 yard touchdown pass. Jax Leonard ran in the conversion try to give Louisville a 16-0 lead.

The Leopards started their next drive with a 30 yard completion from Jones to Grayson Beamer. http://www.facebook.com/JenniferLBolyard/Runningback Jimmy Ashcraft plunged in from a yard out to cap off the drive and Carter Rode added the conversion run to put Louisville up 24-0.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph would try to get going after the kickoff, but on their second down play Clayton “Bigs” Elder picked off the Vikings pass to send the Leopards offense back on the field. Jones wasted no time in getting the ball to Rode for a 59 yard touchdown pass putting the Leopards on top 30-0 with four minutes remaining in the first half.

On Louisville’s next possession, Jones would record his fourth touchdown pass on a 23 yard connection to Collin Chambers on a corner route. That made it 36-zip Leopards.

The final Louisville touchdown came when Gage Hartman intercepted a pass and returned it 37 yards to the house for a pick six. The Leopards took a 42-0 lead into the break and easily ran out the running second half clock to complete the shutout.

UP NEXT: The Freshman Leopards will conclude the season next week when they host the Salem Quakers on Thursday, October 20 at 5:00 PM.
