Freshman Football Puts Exclamation Point on Winning Season

Louisville 56, New Philadelphia 24

The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football team dismantled the visiting New Philadelphia Quakers 56-24 in the season finale at Louisville Leopards Stadium Thursday. With the victory, Louisville finishes the season 5-4.

The Leopards led 14-12 after the first quarter, but outscored the Quakers 29-0 in the second quarter to Beatty's Sports Nothing is Given Shirt Full Size Adpull out to a 43-12 halftime advantage. Dylan Walczak scored on runs of 50, 2, and 1 for Louisville’s first three touchdowns. After Walczak’s third endzone run, Drew Doerschuk scored on a 41 yard pick six just 17 seconds later. Still before the half, BJ Singer scored on a 29 yard touchdown to the right side and caught a 3 yard touchdown pass from Jack Davis in the back of the endzone.

In the third quarter, Davis also scored on a 1 yard Quarterback Sneak to extend the Leopards advantage to 50-18. Davis also hooked up with Doerschuk three times for conversion scores earlier in the game.

Louisville’s final score came in the fourth quarter via a Trent Degenhard to Jorden Richards 7 yard touchdown pass.

On defense, Satchel Strickmaker recorded 2.5 sacks and Singer forced a fumble that was recovered by Louis Johnson. New Philadelphia’s first two touchdowns came after long kick returns that set up a short field. The Quakers also took the opening second half kickoff to the house. Other than that New Philadelphia could do little against Louisville’s stout defense until the second team came in late in the fourth.
