The 5th Seeded Louisville Leopards fell to the top seeded Archbishop Hoban Knights 21-14 in the
Beatty's Sports - 2015 Playoff ShirtDivision III, Region 7 Semifinals at Green Memorial Stadium Friday Night. With the loss, Louisville’s season came to a close with a final overall record of 10-2.

Quarterback Jake Adams was 25 of 39 for 239 yards passing and was also the Leopards top rusher with 10 carries for 71 yards. Adams connected with Brock Haren for a 7 yard touchdown pass and later ran for a touchdown. Haren would finish as the game’s top receiver with 9 catches for 91 yards.

The play of the game came with a little over nine minutes left in the contest. Trailing 14-13, the Knights faced a 4th-and-4 on the Leopards 37. Hoban Quarterback Danny Clark dropped back to pass and threw the ball into coverage. The throw deflected off a Louisville defender and was caught by Blake Bishop for a Knights first down.

Three plays later, Clark would scramble to his left to pick up 15 yards on a 3rd-and-8. On the next play, Hoban Runningback Todd Sibley would punch in what proved to be the game-winning score from 2 yards away. Clark would also connect with Nate Bauer for the two-point conversion to make it 21-14.

After a penalty on the kickoff, the Leopards started the ensuing drive from their own 10 yard line. Louisville would pick up one first down before punting the ball back to Hoban.

The Knights took over with 5:35 remaining from their own 18. Led by the running of Sibley, Hoban drove the ball the length of the field and ran the clock out the rest of the way. Sibley would finish as the game’s leading rusher with 42 carries for 243 yards on the ground.

Louisville got on the board first with Haren’s third-and-goal touchdown grab with 7:35 left in the second quarter. The score capped off a 12 play, 75 yard Leopards drive and proved redemptive after a promising first quarter drive to the Hoban 1 rendered no points.

The Knights would match the Leopards total just before halftime. Clark hit Wide Receiver Anthony Christian for a 29 yard touchdown pass with 30 seconds left in the second quarter. That scoring play was part of an 8 play, 80 yards Hoban drive.

Clark would finish 10 of 23 passing for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Knights. His other Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videotouchdown throw proved to be the only score by either team in the third quarter. Clark found Jonah Morris for a 5 yard touchdown pass to give Hoban a 13-7 advantage. Morris would finish as Hoban’s leading receiver with 5 grabs for 61 yards.

Louisville answered Hoban’s first lead of the game with an 11 play, 80 yard scoring drive that encompassed just 3:41 of game time. Adams hit a variety of receivers on the drive before the sea parted for his 25 yard touchdown scamper. Trevor Burk’s extra point was true and the Leopards led 14-13 just one play into the fourth quarter.

Adams finished the the season with 2,870 yards passing, which eclipsed Neal Seaman’s (2007) previously held LHS single-season record of 2,631. Other than Haren, his top receivers against the Knights included Tyler Adams with 7 catches for 50 yards, Brody Hahn with 4 catches for 35 yards, Conner Bast with 3 catches for 46 yards, and Rahzul Young with 2 catches for 17 yards.

With the loss, Louisville is now 2-1 against Archbishop Hoban all-time and is now 14-16 in the playoffs all-time. With the win, Hoban improves to 11-1 on the season and will face the 2nd seeded Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary Irish in the DIII, Region 7 Finals next Friday.
