Football Falls in Final Tune Up at Hoban 28-0
Archbishop Hoban 28, Louisville 0
The Louisville Leopards dropped their final scrimmage 28-0 to the host Akron Archbishop Hoban Knights at Dowed Field Thursday Evening. With the loss, Louisville finishes 1-1 in the preseason.
Knights Quarterback Danny Clark threw four touchdown passes as the Defending Division III State Champions flexed their muscle in the one half scrimmage. Clark’s favorite target was Garrett Houser who caught touchdown passes of 9 and 72 yards. Daniel Jackson also caught the opening score from 6 yards away and Caden Clark broke free for a 7 yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.
Louisville went three-and-out on their first possession, but moved the ball well on their second drive. A
23 yard completion from Quarterback Brody Hahn to Receiver Tyler Adams moved the ball across midfield. On the very next play, Hahn threw on the run and hit the tip-toeing Max Hartline on the right sideline for a 15 yard gain to the Knights 33.
The Leopards managed to move the sticks one more time before facing a 4th-and-8 on the Hoban 21. On the ensuing play, Hahn moved to his right as the pocket began to collapse. He stepped up and rocketed what would have been a sure touchdown to Adams in the right corner of the endzone. Adams made the grab, but the play was ruled dead back on the 22 as defenders began to close in on Hahn. The scrimmage policy of protecting the Quarterback cost Louisville six.

The Leopards offense threatened again early on in the second quarter. On 3rd-and-10 from their own 30, Hahn fired a pass across midfield. Adams scooped it into his chest, broke free of one defender, and kept running for a 50 yard gain to the Knights 20. Penalties killed the Louisville drive after that and they would only go backwards from there.
Nate Bauer and Reid Allen also recorded interceptions for the Knights to halt Leopards drives. Both picks setup Hoban with short field and both led to touchdowns.
On defense, Louisville for the most part limited the Knights rushing attack. Twice they forced Hoban to punt after stopping them three-and-out.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next open up the season on the road at Canfield when they take on the Cardinals on Friday, August 26 at 7:00 PM.
