Austintown Fitch 37, Louisville 19

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Football Team fell to the host Austintown Fitch Falcons 37-19 Friday Beatty's Camo Hat 1 - 2015Night at Falcon Stadium. With the loss, Louisville finishes non-conference play with a record of 2-1.

Leopards Quarterback Jake Adams was 27 of 44 passing for 248 yards and threw 3 touchdown passes. Runningback Rahzul Young also finished with 125 yards of offense and Alec Jones led all receivers with 11 catches for 110 yards & a touchdown for Louisville.

Jones’ 7 yard touchdown grab in the third quarter cut the Falcons lead to 17-13. Fitch reclaimed a double digit advantage with a defensive score after that. However, the Leopards answered with a 6 play, 65 yard drive ending with Conner Bast catching a 4 yard touchdown pass from Adams. The two-point conversion attempt would fail leaving the score 24-19.

That was as close as Louisville would get as Fitch would record the final three scores of the contest. Falcons Kicker Dylan Correia would kick through a 28 yard field goal with 5:29 left to make it 27-19 and later a 30 yard field goal at the the 3:00 mark to make it a two possession game. Correia would finish with 13 total points for the Falcons.

Austintown Fitch grabbed four interceptions on defense and returned three for touchdowns. Carlos Herriott from 34 yards, Damien Gray from 37 yards, and JC Mikovich from 43 yards were the culprits on the Falcon pick sixes.

Mikovich also halted a separate Leopards drive with an interception near the goal line and caught the Falcons only offensive touchdown. Mikovich hauled in a 14 yard pass in the back of the endzone on 4th-and-8 to tie the game at 7-7 near the end of the first quarter. Mikovich would end the night with 4 catches for 40 yards.

Louisville’s first drive of the game was textbook, as they marched 77 yards in 5 plays taking just 2:03 off the clock. Tyler Adams made a first down reception at midfield before breaking wide open for a 31 yard touchdown catch three plays later. TA would finish with 9 catches for 64 yards.

The Leopards held the edge in total yards 333-197 and in first downs 17-9. However, Louisville was minus 4 in the turnover department, while the Falcons played mistake free football. The Leopards will look to get back on track next Friday when they open up NBC play at Alliance.
