Fairless Falcons at Louisville Leopards 1971 Football Highlights
Louisville 45, Fairless 13
The Fairless Falcons scored the first touchdown of the game and the last touchdown of the game. However, it was all Louisville Leopards in-between as they scored 45 unanswered points and 6 touchdowns in the middle of the two Fairless scores to down the visiting Falcons 45-13 back on October 15, 1971.
Like Thunder & Lightning, Runningbacks Ken Kuhn and Hobie Baker each reached the century mark on the ground. Kuhn ran the ball 12 times to pound out 117 yards and 3 touchdowns. Baker ran the ball just 4 times to amass 104 yards with his breakout play coming on a 66 yard touchdown run. He also caught a 33 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback John Doerschuk, capping off a 25-point Leopard third quarter.
Doerschuk also found Doug Shook for a 27 yard touchdown strike & conversion pass and Barry Emerick on another conversion pass for Louisville. Gary Dickerhoof also scored on a conversion run and Rob Hackley recorded his second safety of the season on defense for the Leopards who remained a perfect 6-0.
The Falcons opening touchdown score came when Fullback Dan Traynor caught a 65 yard pass from Quarterback Jeff Niedenthal. Later on in the fourth quarter, Jim Tillapaw found the endzone from 3 yards out to round out the scoring.
