Louisville Places 3rd at EOWL Tournament – Wrestling
Louisville – 242.5 (3rd Out of 27)
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Wrestling Team competed at the Eastern Ohio Wrestling League Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Leopards accumulated 242.5 total points to capture 3rd out of 27 teams.
Garett Lautzenheiser (120), Davin Rhoads (126), and Jax Leonard (152) all captured first place in their respective brackets to lead the Leopards efforts. Daniel Kennedy (145) and Blake Robbins (220) also both advanced to the finals and placed second.
Lautzenheiser went 4-0 winning by pin twice and by technical fall 19-2 in the quarterfinals He finished his run with a 9-3 finals win over Jefferson’s Jason Mayes to conclude the 120 tournament.
Rhoads finished 5-0 and started the weekend with 3 straight pins. He earned a 13-3 major decision in the semifinals before recording a 7-2 decision against Beaver Local’s Logan Ours in the 126 championship match.
Leonard also went a perfect 5-0 with a team leading 4 pins for the tournament. This included a pin in the 152 finals 3:23 in against Beaver Local’s Logan Krulik. Leonard also earned a 22-5 technical fall in his second bout.
Kennedy won by fall in each of his first two 145 matchups. He then earned a 13-2 major decision over Jackson Milton’s Anthony Pizzuto in the semifinals before dropping an 11-4 decision to Crestview’s Issac Ricketts in the finals.
Robbins took a simliar route in earning pins in his first 2 bouts. He then won by a 5-1 decision over South Range’s Anthony Czap to punch a ticket to the 220 finals. Canfield’s Tyler Stein would defeat Robbins 3-1 in the championship match.
Carter Mickley (138) and Brent Paulus (195) also placed 3rd. Others placing for he Leopards included Riley Brendle (285) taking 4th and Logan Vanicek (132) coming in 7th.
The Beaver Local Beavers won the tournament with a score of 292.5 and the Canfield Cardinals took 2nd with a 259.0 score. The Leopards will host the Cardinals Wednesday in a rematch of last year’s OHSAA Team Tournament Regional Final.
