The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team downed the visiting Dublin Scioto Fighting Irish 55-46 Thursday Afternoon at Louisville High School. The loss snaps the Lady Leopards 4 game skid and ups their mark to 5-7 on the season.
Paige Cole scored a game-high 21 points, grabbed a game-high 7 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists to lead Louisville. Cole alone outscored Scioto 8-7 to help the Leopards take a 30-18 lead. She then matched the Irish’s total with 9 points in the third as Louisville extended their advantage to 42-27 before cruising to victory in the final period.
Kayla Gibson made 2 three-pointers and finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and a game leading 5 assists. Erin Hahn also scored 9 points and a game-high 5 steals. Maggie Galentine recorded 3 assists and 4 steals as the Leopards finished with 17 steals as a team.
Louisville out-shot Dublin Scioto 38% (17 of 44) to 34% (15 of 43) from the floor. However, the Leopards advantage was even more stark from the free throw line 82% (18 of 22) versus 52% (12 of 23).
The Fighting Irish (6-4) were led by Karleigh Rothe who scored a team-leading 15 points and grabbed 5 boards. Lauren Erickson also scored 8 points and led Dublin Scioto in rebounds with 8.
This was the first ever meeting between the two programs in their history.
