Louisville Girls Place 4th and Boys Take 5th at District Meet
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Track Teams Competed in the Division I North Canton District Meet this past week on Wednesday and Friday. The Louisville Boys placed 5th out of 13 teams accumulating a total of 77.5 points. The Lady Leopards placed 4th out of 15 teams and scored 62 points.
Boys – 77.5 (5th Out of 13)
The Louisville Boys dominated the long-distance running events. The 4×800 Meter Relay team of Nick Chaplik, Noah Chapik, Zach Fresenko, and Noah Murray captured first place with a time of 7:54.27. Murray also won the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 9:34.51 with Fresenko placing third just seconds behind him.
The Chaplik brothers took over the middle-distance running events. In the 800 Meter Run, Nick Chaplik placed second with a time of 1:56.18 and Noah Chaplik took fourth a little over a second behind him. Noah Chaplik then finished first in the 1600 Meter Run (4:25.97) with Nick Chaplik busted through right behind him (4:26.03).
Girls – 62 (4th Out of 15)
Morgan Cole won the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 11:15.55 to lead the Lady Leopards. She was also part of the second place 4×800 Meter Relay team that included Kayla Gibson, Cassidy Kiko, and Grace Collins. That team finished with a mark of 9:50.16.
Kiko also placed second in the 1600 Meter Run (5:14.31) and Gibson took third in the 800 Meter Run (2:29.7). Other leaders for Louisville included Alexis Shearer taking 2nd in the 200 Meter Dash (26.02) and Brynn Guist continuing her dominance in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a third place finish (46.11).
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next compete at the DI Youngstown Regional Meet next week at Austintown Fitch High School. Competition will begin at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 24 and also on Friday, May 26.
