Dalton Deckerd delivered a 2-Out, Walk-Off Single to Center in the bottom of the seventh to lift the
Beatty's Louisville Leopards Hoodie White Winter 2015Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball team past the visiting Dover Tornadoes 2-1 in the season opener Saturday Afternoon at LHS.

Offense came at a premium for the two squads as pitching dominated. Leopards Starter Paul Howard pitched 6 strong innings, gave up just 1 run on 6 hits, and struck out 5. Stephen Kerzan also pitched a scoreless final frame to earn the victory.

Louisville snagged the early lead in the first inning. Tyler Adams was hit by a pitch and then stole second base. Then Jake Adams reached on an error which allowed Tyler Adams to score from second.

After that, Tornadoes Pitcher Keaton Lahmers would hold the Leopards off the board until the final at-bat of the Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videocontest. He gave up just 5 hits during the game and struck out 12 Louisville batters along the way.

Dover knotted the game back up in the sixth inning when Jake Sudduth singled home Ryan Thompson. Suddoth would finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and Stoldt also went 2-for-3 to lead the Tornadoes.

Jake Adams walked to start the Leopards seventh. Kerzan then sacrificed Adams to second. Two at-bats later, Deckerd smashed a 2-2 pitch to center scoring Adams from second for the winning run.

Brody Hahn finished with 2 of Louisville’s 5 hits for the game as well.

The victory is the Leopards first against Dover since they defeated them 14-2 back in 2010.The Tornadoes had won the previous two meetings.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next next open up NBC play against the West Branch Warriors on Tuesday, March 29 at 5:00 PM. Varsity will be on the Road and JV will be Home. Freshman will next host the Green Bulldogs on Monday, March 28 at 5:00 PM.

The Leopards JV Team shutout the host Tornadoes 4-0 in the season opener at Dover City Park Saturday Afternoon.

Starting Pitcher Jack Davis led Louisville by pitching the first 6 innings, giving up just 2 hits, and striking out 8 to earn the victory on the hill. In relief, Bryce Zuppe would need just 9 pitches to close the game out in the seventh.

The Leopards won despite going 2-for-27 at the dish. Brendon Hoffman and Cameron Prasco each recorded singles for Louisville’s only hits.

Small ball was the name of the game for the Leopards on Offense. Both Brandon Wahl & Anthony Carpico walked in the opening inning and then scored on passed balls.

Zuppe reached via error and Carpico was hit by a pitch to start the fifth inning. Zuppe scored when Prasco reached base on error and Carpico came home when Drew Doerschuk drew a 5-pitch bases loaded walk.

The Leopards Freshman Baseball Team erupted for a 12-2, 6-inning victory over the visiting Tornadoes Saturday in the season opener.

Max Hartline batted 4-for-4 with with a triple, an RBI, and 3 runs scored to lead the Leopards. Caleb Prasco also went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 runs batted in.

Louisville scored 5 runs in the third, added 3 more in the fourth, and enforced the run-rule by scoring 4 more runs in the sixth. Cade Fulk doubled in Ethan Morley for the game-clinching run. One at-bat before that Josh Nolte delivered a two-run single to setup Fulk’s opportunity.

On the hill, both Andrew Gray and Jordan Shearer pitched 3 innings, gave up no earned runs, and struck out 5 a piece. The Tornadoes managed just 7 hits in the game overall.

Conner Birone also batted 2-for-4 with a double, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Jacob Hansen and Dillon Rebuck both drove in runs as well.
