Tillett and Baker Secure Victory in Final Minute
Dalton’s Payton Lehman nailed a game-tying three-pointer from the top of the key, evening the score at 39-39 with 18 seconds remaining. The Lady Bulldogs immediately called timeout to set up their defense as the Lady Leopards prepared for a chance to regain the lead.
On the ensuing possession, Louisville’s leading scorer Courtney Barwick drew a double team, allowing Maggie Baker to receive the inbound pass with space to navigate. Baker crossed mid-court, drawing off the defender who had been lockstep with Ella Tillett. She then delivered a precise pass over a wall of defenders to Tillett, who was left wide open in the lane. Tillett banked the ball off the backboard, and after briefly dangling on the rim, it fell through, putting Louisville ahead 41-39 with around 10 seconds left.
The go-ahead basket prompted another Dalton timeout as the Bulldogs prepared their final play. The ball was inbounded to Lehman, who dribbled up the right sideline before encountering a double team near mid-court. Barwick held her ground defensively, forcing Lehman to change direction. Baker swooped in to steal the ball from behind with less than 6 seconds remaining. She dribbled ahead and passed to Karis Miglich, who took a shot that ran out the clock, securing a 41-39 victory for the Lady Leopards.
