Leopards Rally in 6th, but Fall in Extras Vs. Hilltoppers 7-4 – Baseball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team fell in extra innings 7-4 to the visiting Chardon Hilltoppers Friday evening at Andy Aljancic Field. With the loss, Louisville drops to 1-3 on the season.

Louisville Battles Back from Early Deficit
Chardon jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first two innings via two RBI singles from Stone Fawcett and a pair of Louisville errors.
Louisville plated their first run in the second inning when Grayson Brunoni was hit by a pitch to start the frame and later scored on a ground ball single to center by Luke Seaman.
The Leopards went on to tie the game with a 3-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning. Brunoni walked to lead off the inning and Zander Triplett followed to put runners on the corners. Kolton Loy delivered an RBI single on the next pitch that brought home courtesy runner Landyn Fohner to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Later in the inning, Jake Paumier cracked a sacrifice fly to center field plating Triplett from third to cut the margin to a single run. Loy then scored from third on a wild pitch to knot the game at 4-4.
Hilltoppers Pull Away in the Ninth
After being held scoreless for six straight innings, Chardon’s bats came back to life in the ninth. Chad Prince delivered the big blow with a 2-run double to right field to put the Hilltoppers in front 6-4. Two batters later, Dominic Sintic tacked on an insurance run with an RBI single to center that bringing home Jayden Buth to pad the Chardon lead to 7-4.
The Leopards were unable to answer in the bottom half of the ninth, despite a two-out error keeping hopes alive. As darkness closed in, John Timko struck out the final batter to seal the win for Chardon.
Seaman Goes a Perfect 4-for-4
Outfielder Luke Seaman led the Leopards offense going 4-for-4 at the plate with four singles and an RBI. Zander Triplett also finished with a multi-hit night going 2-for-3.
Louisville collected 10 hits overall but stranded 9 baserunners. The Leopards also turned a pair of double plays defensively but were hindered by 6 errors in the field.
Deem Strikes Out 5 in Relief
Brock Leghart started on the mound and struck out two in an inning of work. He gave way to Carter Deem who gave Louisville four strong innings in relief, allowing just one earned run, and fanning five.
Trevor Burick pitched two scoreless innings and Blake Johnson closed out the final two frames. Both Burick and Johnson struck out two batters each.
UP NEXT: The Louisville Baseball Team will next travel to take on the University School Preppers on Saturday, April 5. Game time is set for 2:00 PM from Hunting Valley. JV will host the Preppers at the same time.

Louisville Freshman Leopards With Tough Game Against CVCA Royals JV Blue

Louisville Freshman Leopards couldn’t keep up with CVCA Royals JV Blue and fell 8-1 on Friday at Louisville High School – Freshman Field.
CVCA Royals JV Blue jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Jace Manke grounded out, scoring one run, and Ben Hillyard singled, scoring two runs.
CVCA Royals JV Blue added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Manke tripled to left field, and Kellen Berthiaume grounded out, each scoring one run.
Tyler Foltz pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Louisville Freshman Leopards. The hurler allowed five hits and four runs while, striking out none and walking none. Carter Whitlatch opened the game for Louisville Freshman Leopards. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and three runs over one inning, striking out none and walking three. Joshua Porter started the game for CVCA Royals JV Blue. The starter allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two.
Isaac Mohler went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Connor Cassidy, Whitlatch, and Mohler each collected one hit for Louisville Freshman Leopards. Louisville Freshman Leopards had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Xavier Berdella and Caden Thorn led the team with two bases on balls each. Cassidy, Berdella, and Thorn each stole multiple bases for Louisville Freshman Leopards. Louisville Freshman Leopards ran wild on the base paths, accumulating 10 stolen bases for the game. Louisville Freshman Leopards turned one double play in the game. Louisville Freshman Leopards were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Thorn had the most chances in the field with seven.
Manke provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led CVCA Royals JV Blue with three runs batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Chase Hodas, Porter, Hillyard, Alex Robinson, Ben Tate, and Manke each collected one hit for CVCA Royals JV Blue. CVCA Royals JV Blue had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Tate and AJ Regalo led the team with two free passes each. Hodas stole two bases. CVCA Royals JV Blue ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game. CVCA Royals JV Blue were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Regalo had the most chances in the field with 11.
