Lady Leopards Soar Past Cardinals 57-42 After Strong Start – Girls Basketball
Louisville 57, Cardinal Mooney 42
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals 57-42 Saturday Afternoon at Louisville High School. With the win, Louisville improves to 7-4 on the season.
Sherilynn Mullett scored a game-high 18 points and Kayla Gibson poured in 17 to lead the Lady Leopards. Paige Cole also hit Louisville’s only 2 three-pointers in scoring 10 and Kendal Loy added 9.
Louisville rolled to a 16-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and maintained their double digit advantage leading 29-19 at the half. The Leopards would outscore the Cardinals in each of the final two periods to earn the convincing win.
Cardinal Mooney was led by Katie Hough who scored a team-high 15 points. Caitie Perry also scored double digits with 11 and Maria Fire added 7 points all in the first half.
The Leopards now lead the all-time series 2-0 over the Cardinals. Their only other meeting came last season with Louisville winning 62-55 at Cardinal Mooney on February 2, 2019.
