The Louisville Leopards Varsity Football Team defeated the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals 31-21 Friday night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 4-3 on the season.
Quarterback Colton Jones finished 25 of 39 for 316 yards and threw 4 touchdowns to lead the Leopards offense. Ryan Pukys was the recipient of 3 of those touchdown passes and finished as Louisville’s leading receiver with 5 catches for 86 yards. Davis Burick also caught a 9 yard touchdown pass with four minutes left in the contest to give the Leopards a commanding 31-21 advantage. Burick would finish with 4 catches for 48 yards.
Runningback Max Hartline also tallied 143 total yards of offense. He made 5 catches for 74 yards and also rushed the ball 15 times for 69 yards. Hartline recorded 58 of his 69 rushing yards in the second half and dragged defenders for two key first downs on Louisville’s final game sealing drive.
Other top receivers for the Leopards included Bryce Zuppe with 5 receptions for 70 yards and Jared Mathie with 6 catches for 38 yards.
Cardinal Mooney was led by Quarterback John Murphy who was 15 of 22 passing for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns. He connected with Anthony Fire, Michael Santisi, and Mike Scovina on scores. Murphy was also the Cardinals leading rusher with 13 carries for 71 yards. Mooney’s top receiver was Nico Marchianda with 6 catches for 56 yards. Jason Santisi also had a notable night on the ground with 14 rushes for 61 yards.
This was the first ever meeting between the two schools.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the South Range Raiders on Saturday, October 12 at 7:00 PM. Freshman will be on the road at Rominger Sports Complex against South Range on Thursday, October 11 at 5:00 PM and JV will play the Raiders on the road on Saturday, October 13 at 10:00 AM.
