Spencer Hall consistently scored 4 points in each quarter to finish with a game-high 16 in leading the Leopards. Colton Jones and Jimmy Wright also hit 3 three-pointers each. Jones finished in double figures with 10 and Wright fired up the gym with all 9 of his points from downtown in the second half.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdLouisville scored the first four points of the game and held a slim 13-12 lead the end of one quarter. That would be the Leopards last lead of the contest as the Bulldogs were sparked by a Charles Hatcher breakaway dunk that kickstarted a 7-2 run. Canton McKinley went into the locker room leading 28-23 as a result.

The Bulldogs extended their advantage to double digits after a steal and score by Xavier Black made it 40-29 McKinley with 3:14 left in the third quarter. The Leopards roared back with 15-5 run to narrow the deficit to the slimmest of margins. The run was fueled by 3 three-point makes by Wright with the final of his triples getting Louisville to within 45-44 just 14 seconds into the final period.

The pace quickened and the Bulldogs answered with an 8-2 run over the course of the next minute of play to take a 53-46 lead. That spurt was enough to carry them to victory as they ran off a lot of clock with smart offensive possessions and allowed just one Leopards field goal the rest of the way. Jone’s three-pointer with 2:50 left was Louisville’s only score over the final 6:16 of the contest. The Bulldogs made 6 of 13 free throws in the final quarter which was enough to ice the game, while the Leopards failed to connect on 4 tries from the line in the final frame.

Canton McKinley (3-1) was led by Kobe Johnson who matched Hall with a game-high 16, all of which came from the floor. Black and Ronnie McClain also added 11 points each for the Bulldogs.

This is just the second time that Canton McKinley has traveled to play at Louisville in their history, the other was an 84-60 Bulldogs win in the season opener in 2016. The Leopards are now 1-10 against the Bulldogs all-time. Their only victory over McKinley came in the 1960 Class A Sectional which they won 45-44 before falling to Canton Timken two days later 76-44.
