Aljancic & Nigro Combine for 44 to Lead Leps
Junior guard Will Aljancic and sophomore guard Hayden Nigro combined for 44 of the Leopards 59 points to lead LHS. Aljancic made a pair of three-pointers and finished with a team high 23. Nigro converted 8 of 10 free throws en rout to pouring in 21.
Other Louisville scorers included freshman post Brayden Gross with 7, senior guard Tyler Boldon with 6, and junior guard Charlie Roberts with 2.
McKinley Takes Command Via 16-2 Run
The two teams battled back-and-forth throughout the first quarter with the Leopards taking a 14-13 lead into the second quarter. The Bulldogs scored the first two baskets of the second stanza to go in front, but a quick steal and score in the backcourt by Boldon knotted the game at 17-17 with 5:43 to go in the period.
McKinley scored 10 straight points in a span of 2:08 in response as part of a 16-2 Bulldog run that put them ahead by double digits. The Pups took a commanding 35-23 lead into the half as a result.
Canton McKinley would extend their advantage to 50-35 by the end of the third quarter. Louisville would continue to score, but was unable to shrink the deficit lower than nine points the rest of the way. When the Leopards trimmed their disadvantage to 58-49, the Bulldogs answered with an 8-1 run to take their largest lead of the night at 66-50 in the final minutes. McKinley rolled to victory after that.
Foster Scores Game High 31 to Lead Pups
Junior wing Trasean Foster scored all of his game high 31 points in the final three quarters to lead the Bulldogs. Foster dropped in 14 of McKinley’s 31 field goals in the game and finished with 11 points in the fourth quarter. Also reaching double figures were junior guard Jahil Graham with 13 and senior guard Lazell Evans who had 11.
The Leopards are now 1-12 against the Bulldogs all-time. Louisville is now 2-2 against the Federal League this season.
