Boys Lacrosse Endures Rough Ride Against Kent Roosevelt

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team suffered a 16-5 defeat at the hands of the visiting Beatty's Sports Blue Winter Hat 2015Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders Friday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the loss, Louisville falls to an even 1-1 on the season.

Jared Holland scored 2 unassisted goals and recorded 2 assists to lead the Leopards. Atticus Forbes also tallied a goal & an assist for Louisville.

The Rough Riders (2-0) never trailed in the contest. Noah McCarty won the opening face-off for Kent Roosevelt and Nick Mitov scored just seven seconds into the game. It was the start of a big night for Mitov as he scored a game-high 7 goals and had an assist.

The Leopards answered the Rough Riders 2-0 lead with a pair of goals by Holland and Nate Hostetler in a span of just 32 seconds. However, Kent Roosevelt would hold Louisville off the scoreboard over the next 14:31 in taking a 7-2 advantage second quarter advantage.

The Rough Riders would top that stretch by shutting out the Leopards over a span 19:43 during the Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videosecond and third quarter. Sean McKinney broke the drought for Louisville by scoring his first goal of the season with just 14 seconds left in the third quarter.

Kent Roosevelt’s success was in large part due to their ability to win face-offs and crisp passing. The Rough Riders doubled up the Leopards in face-offs won 14-7 and 9 of their 16 goals were assisted in the game.

Zach Adair scored 4 goals, Kyle Patrick & Logan Weber each added a pair of goals, and Spencer Neubert rounded off Kent Roosevelt’s scoring with a late fourth quarter goal. McCarty and Patrick finished with 2 assists a piece.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Avon Eagles on Tuesday, April 12. JV is slated to start at 5:30 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.

The Leopards JV Team lost a 9-8 overtime thriller to the Rough Riders in their season opener Friday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium.

Tucker Labelle scored with just one tick left in the extra period to lift Kent Roosevelt. As the final seconds ticked down there was a scrum for possession on the right side of the field. The Rough Riders Alex Copen saved the ball from going out of bounds by popping it up in the air. A teammate retrieved it and Labelle scored seconds later.

The Leopards trailed 8-6 in the final minutes of the fourth quarter before rallying to knot the game. Jordan Mack’s goal, via an assist from Bradley Terra, with 1:00 remaining tied the contest at 8-8. Louisville had opportunities in the final minute and in overtime but could not find the net.

Zach Burkhardt and Terra each scored two goals to lead the Leopards. Freshman Matt Swigert also scored the first goal of his high school career in the second quarter.

NOTE: Scorebook was missing 2 Louisville goals which were not part of this write-up.
