Baseball Takes Down McKinley in 7th at Thurman Munson

Louisville 7, Canton McKinley 4
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball team scored three runs in the seventh inning to down the host Canton McKinley Bulldogs 7-4 at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium Friday Evening. Louisville has now won 9 consecutive games to improve their season record to 10-5 on the year.
Th Leopards scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh without the ball leaving the infield. Marco Buccasso walked to lead-off the inning and eventually came home via Joe Crank’s ground ball to the shortstop that resulted in an error. Stephen Kerzan broke the game open after that with a 2-run single to right field that allowed both Tyler Adams and Crank to come home making it 7-4 Leopards.
Following that, Brennan Seemann picked up the save by retiring the McKinley batters 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh. Paul Howard (2-2) also earned the victory on the mound for Louisville after starting the first 6 innings, giving up just 2 earned runs, and striking out 1.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Leopards early in taking a 3-0 advantage in the first inning. Louisville rallied back for four runs in the top of the third to take the lead at 4-3. Kerzan and Jake Adams each recorded infield hits to drive home the first two runs. Then Alex Hewitt ripped a 2-run double to right field to put Louisville in front.
McKinley would tie the game back up at 4-4 when Isaiah Hogsett singled home Lee Hurst in the bottom of the fourth. The Bulldogs were also led by Nick Faulkner who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the crosstown St. Thomas Aquinas Knights in a Double Header on Saturday, April 25 starting at 11:00 AM. JV will be on the road at St. Thomas during the same time.
