Baseball Fends Off Late Wildcat Rally in Win at South
Louisville 9, Canton South 8
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball team edged the Canton South Wildcats 9-8 Thursday Evening 
at Canton South High School. With the win, Louisville improves to 7-8 overall and an even 4-4 against the NBC.
Every Leopard in the starting lineup recorded a hit as Louisville pounded out 14 hits as a team. Stephen Kerzan and Isaac Mathie both batted 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Cam White also drove in 2 runs and Jake Adams & Brock Haren each had an RBI. Adams, Haren, and Nick Harsh also tallied 2 hits a piece.
The Leopards used a 6-run fifth inning to take a 9-3 lead. The Wildcats answered with 3 runs in the bottom half of the fifth and threatened further in the seventh inning by adding two additional runs.
Canton South had the tying-run on second base and the winning run on first base with one out when 
Kerzan took the hill for Louisville. Kerzan got the next batter to ground to Shortstop Nathan Mongiardo who flipped the ball to Brody Hahn to get the out at second base. After falling behind 3-0 on the next batter, Kerzan completed the save by getting the final Wildcat batter to fly out to Harsh in left field.
Earlier, Adams started the first 5 innings and struck out 4 to earn the victory. Adams is now 2-2 on the hill this season for the Leopards.
The Wildcats were led by Tim Lundsford who batted 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and Khord Moore who hit a 3-run double in the second inning. Ron Croston, Ty McKinney, and JC Phillippi all cracked 2 hits as well for CSHS.
Louisville has now swept Canton South in each of the past two seasons. This is the first time the Leopards have completed back-to-back sweeps of the Wildcats since 2009-2010.
