Baseball Falls Under the Lights at New Philadelphia
New Philadelphia 6, Louisville 4
The Louisville Leopards fell to the host New Philadelphia Quakers 6-4 Friday Night at Tuscora Park. With the loss, the Leopards drop to 16-9 on the year.
Louisville got on the board first in the top of the third. Adam Nyland singled to right field scoring Joe Crank from third. Nyland then safely advanced to second on the throw home and Jake Adams came home via the attempt to throw out Nyland at second. The wild sequence put the Leopards ahead 2-0.
The Quakers rallied back by scoring a run in both the 3rd and 4th innings. Charles Murray provided an RBI Single and Colton Thomas blasted an RBI triple to knot the game at 2-2. Later on in the fifth inning, Garrett Hartstine slammed a 3-run home run to left field for what proved to be the game-winning hit for New Philadelphia.
Joe Crank finished 2-for-3 at the dish with a double and a run scored to lead Louisville. Jake Adams also scored 2 runs and Dalton Deckerd also came home via a wild pitch in the seventh inning.
The Quakers were led by Pitcher Skahur Brown who pitched a complete game and struck out 14.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the West Branch Warriors on Monday, May 11 at 4:30 PM for a chance to clinch at least a share of the NBC Title. JV will be on the road at West Branch at the same time and Freshman will be hosting Boardman Monday at 5:00.
