Baseball Drops NBC Opener in Pitcher’s Duel at West Branch

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball team was blanked by the host West Branch Warriors 2-0 Beatty's White Leopards HatTuesday at West Branch High School. With the loss, Louisville falls to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.

The bullpens remained rested as both teams saw their starters go the distance on the mound. Jake Adams pitched all 6 frames, gave up just 1 earned run on 7 hits, and struck out 4 to lead the Leopards. He was out-done only by Warriors Starter Alazaus who pitched a complete game, 2-hit shutout in striking out 11.

West Branch broke the deadlock in the third inning when Goode reached on error scoring Schroeder Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videofrom second base. The only other run of the contest came in the fifth when Hedrick’s sacrifice squeeze brought in Steele from third.

Tyler Adams and Corey White had the only hits for the Leopards. Louisville has now dropped their last 4 meetings at West Branch overall.

UP NEXT: The Varsity Leopards will next host the West Branch Warriors on Thursday, March 31 at 5:00 PM. JV will be on the road at the same time. Freshman’s next game will be at home on Wednesday, March 30 at 5:00 PM against North Canton Hoover.

The Leopards JV Team defeated the visiting West Branch Warriors 10-1 Tuesday Evening at LHS. With the victory, Louisville improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 against NBC foes.

Cam Prasco earned the victory on the mound after starting the first 6 innings, giving up just 1 earned run on 3 hits, and striking out 10 to lead Louisville. Prasco also cracked an RBI double in the sixth and drove in a run via a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Bryce Zuppe led the offense by batting 2-for-3 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Brendon Hoffman got the Leopards on the board first with a 2-run single in the opening inning. Jack Davis & Brandon Wahl also drove in runs for Louisville.

Eddie Budinski finished off the Warriors by working a scoreless seventh inning. He struck out 2 batters in the frame.

The Leopards were led by Starting Pitcher Dom Mongiardo who pitched a complete game, gave up just 1 earned run on 5 hits, and struck out 5.
