Archbishop Hoban 28, Louisville 7
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Football team dropped the final dress rehearsal 28-7 against the visiting Akron Archbishop Hoban Knights Thursday at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
Quarterback Jared Mathie scored the only touchdown for the Leopards as he dipped and dodged defenders for a 14 yard score. One play earlier, Mathie connected with Wide Receiver Max Hartline deep down the left side of the field over the outstretched hands of two Hoban defensive backs. The play went for a 46 yard gain to convert a 3rd-and-16.

The Knights offense produced three touchdowns during the one half scrimmage. Runningback Tyris Dickerson broke free to score on the ground from 45 yards out in the first quarter and 50 yards out in the second quarter. Garrett Hauser also caught a 50 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Shane Hamm with 9 seconds left in the opening quarter.
On defense, Mathie intercepted a Hoban pass for the Leopards only takeaway. He returned it 14 yards to the Knights 44 setting Louisville up for a potential game-tying drive with 8:39 left in the second quarter. But three plays later, Hoban Defensive Back Matt Salopek returned the favor with a 72 yard interception return touchdown.
The Leopards finish the preseason with an 0-2 mark in scrimmages, but the real season begins August 25 when they host Canfield in the season opener.
