   Overcasher Breaks Scoreless Tie

West Main Vet Clinic AdNeither side found the back of the net during a scoreless opening half as the Leopards and Falcons entered halftime deadlocked at 0-0.

Louisville finally broke through after the intermission. Brandon Sanders set up Overcasher, who finished the opportunity to give the Leopards a 1-0 advantage.

Louisville protected that lead deep into the second half and stood just minutes away from avenging its 1-0 loss at Fitch earlier in the season.

Lubonovich Rescues Draw for Falcons

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdFitch finally found the equalizer with just 3:45 remaining when Carter Lubonovich scored to knot the match at 1-1.

Neither team could produce a game-winner in the closing minutes, leaving the Falcons with their second conference draw of the season and Louisville with its second tie overall.

The result also prevented Fitch from keeping pace with Howland atop the AAC standings.

Leopards Shake Up AAC Championship Race

Mongiardo Power Wash AdLouisville’s draw had major implications in the All-American Conference championship picture.

Howland entered Thursday tied with Fitch in the loss column and strengthened its position by edging Canfield 1-0 at home. The Tigers improved to 7-1-1 in conference play, while Fitch’s draw at Louisville moved the Falcons to 6-1-2 and left them a half-game behind Howland.

Canfield, meanwhile, fell to 6-2-1 in the AAC with its loss to the Tigers.

That sets up a championship-deciding showdown Tuesday when Fitch hosts Howland in the final AAC match for both teams. The Falcons will need to defeat the Tigers to claim the conference title, while Howland can secure the championship with either a win or a draw.

Louisville played a significant role in creating that scenario. Howland swept its two meetings with the Leopards this season both by 3-0 counts, while Fitch surrendered a draw in Thursday’s rematch after defeating Louisville 1-0 on September 22.

AAC TITLE RACE: Howland (7-1-1) holds a half-game lead over Austintown Fitch (6-1-2). The Tigers and Falcons will meet Tuesday at Fitch with the AAC championship on the line. Howland can clinch with a win or draw, while Fitch must win to claim the title.

Louisville Earns First Result Against Fitch

Thursday marked just the second boys soccer meeting between Louisville and Austintown Fitch.

The Falcons won the first-ever matchup 1-0 earlier this season at Fitch. Louisville’s draw in the return meeting leaves the Leopards 0-1-1 against the Falcons all-time.
