Both teams were strong on the mound on Monday, but Louisville Varsity Leopards defeated Austintown Fitch Varsity Falcons 3-1. Caleb Mayle started the game for Louisville Varsity Leopards and recorded 18 outs.

Austintown Fitch Varsity Falcons were the first to get on the board in the first when Evan Kessler singled, scoring one run.

Louisville Varsity Leopards captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third after Jake Beard singled to right field, and Max Roberts walked, each scoring one run.

Mayle began the game for Louisville Varsity Leopards. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and one run over six innings, striking out nine and walking three. Kessler started the game for Austintown Fitch Varsity Falcons. The pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking four. Grayson Brunoni pitched one inning of zero-run ball for Louisville Varsity Leopards in relief. The reliever surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking none.

Cody Zahler led Louisville Varsity Leopards with two hits in three at bats. Roberts and Beard each drove in one run for Louisville Varsity Leopards. Roberts paced Louisville Varsity Leopards with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Zahler and John Baker each stole multiple bases for Louisville Varsity Leopards. Louisville Varsity Leopards stole four bases in the game. Louisville Varsity Leopards turned one double play in the game.

Kessler led Austintown Fitch Varsity Falcons with one run batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Gavin Loomis led Austintown Fitch Varsity Falcons with two hits in four at bats.

Louisville Varsity Leopards will travel to Lake for their next game on Wednesday.
