Rogers Scores Career-High 30 as Leopards Mount Rally

West Main Vet Clinic AdCohen Rogers scored 21 of his game-high 30 points in the second half to lead the Leopards. The 30 points are a career high for Rogers, eclipsing his previous career high of 29 set at St. Ignatius earlier this season. Rogers buried 5 of his 6 three-pointers in the second half, nearly willing Louisville back into the game.

The Leopards led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter before surrendering 26 points to the Golden Eagles in the second quarter to fall behind 32-22 at halftime. GlenOak ballooned its lead to 12 on multiple occasions, but Louisville got hot from beyond the arc to hang in the game. Rogers hit 3 three-pointers in the third quarter and Max Mathie added another from the corner. Rogers also converted a traditional three-point play from the line after being fouled on a basket inside.

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdThe Leopards still trailed 49-40 at the end of the third and by as much as 51-40 in the fourth quarter before they mounted a furious rally. A pair of Rogers’ three-pointers and a driving layup by Drake Wilson capped a stunning 11-0 Louisville run to knot the game at 51-51 with under three minutes remaining.

Wilson would finish with 8 points. Jake Baker and Brandon Sanders added 4 points apiece. Colten Norris and Cody Zahler rounded out the LHS scoring with 2 points each.

Thomas Scores Game-Winner for GlenOak with 2.7 Seconds Left

Jaxson Kendrick scored on a putback on the other end to put the Golden Eagles back in front 53-51. Then Sanders canned a pair of clutch free throws from the line in the Leopards’ possession to tie the game back up at 53-all with 1:52 left.

Neither team scored on their next possession and with about a minute left GlenOak elected to dribble the clock down for a final shot much to the dismay of the home crowd. Golden Eagle head coach Rick Hairston called timeout with 10.1 seconds remaining to draw up the final play.. Jeremy Thomas received the inbound on the right wing isolated 1-on-1, found a seam, and scored a layup with 2.7 seconds remaining to put GlenOak in front 55-53.

The Leopards’ ensuing inbound pass drifted too far to the right and a foot on the line gave the ball back to the Golden Eagles with 1.7 seconds left. Hope remained kindled when Rogers intercepted the inbound on the GlenOak offensive end. Rogers’ three-quarter-court heave fell short at the buzzer and the Golden Eagles prevailed.

Conley and White Finish with Team-High 11 for Golden Eagles

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdJameel Conley and Issa White each finished with a team-high 11 for GlenOak. Conley made 3 three-pointers and scored all of his points in the first three quarters of action. White scored 7 of his 11 points in the second half and made 4 field goals.

Ten different Golden Eagles found the scoring column. Breeson Jones and Thomas also scored 6 points each. The quartet of Avontae Cummings, Kendrick, Jordan Thomas, and Mason Welch all added 4 points apiece. Tamarig Patterson also hit a three-pointers and Marques Lambrose tacked on 2.

GlenOak has now won 3 of its last 5 and improves to 7-14 on the season with the victory.

GlenOak Wins Eighth Straight Over Louisville

The Golden Eagles have now bested the Leopards in each of their last 8 matchups and 21 of the last 23 meetings overall. Louisville’s last victory over GlenOak came in a 69-66 home victory in 2004.

The Leopards are now 10-31 all-time against the Golden Eagles, which includes a 4-15 mark when playing at home in the series.
