West Main Vet Clinic AdThe Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team fell to the Gahanna Lincoln Lions, 59-41, Sunday afternoon in the Shot Clock Battle in the 614 Showcase held at Alumni Hall on the campus of Ohio Dominican University. With the loss, Louisville drops to an even 7-7 on the season.

Mathie Scores Game-High 11 to Earn Louisville MVP

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdMax Mathie scored 8 of his game-high 11 points in the first half to lead the Leopards. Louisville trailed 15-8 at the end of the first and went into the break down 24-16 after a more evenly played second quarter. Mathie also made 3 of Louisville’s 7 three-pointers in the contest on his way to earning team MVP honors.

Cohen Rogers also hit a pair of three-pointers and finished scoring 7 of his 10 points in the second half. Luke Boldon also hit a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter and finished with 7 points. Gahanna Lincoln used a big third quarter to blow the game open, but the Leopards managed to outscore the Golden Lions 15-10 in the final quarter.

Other Louisville players scoring from the field included Brandon Sanders with 6 and Chase Wilson with 3. Noah Ickes hit a pair of fourth-quarter free throws to score 2. Jake Baker and Colton Dougherty each scored a single point after splitting a pair of free throws in the third quarter.


Rivera-Whitfield Scores Team-High 10 to Lead Lincoln

Darek Rivera-Whitfield scored seven of his team-high 10 points in the opening half to lead Gahanna Lincoln. Rivera-Whitfield added 4 assists and 3 steals en route to earning team MVP honors. Ryan Washington scored in every quarter and also finished with 9 points.

Nic Newman scored 6 of his 8 points in the third quarter, which saw the Golden Lions outscore the Leopards 25-10 and take a 49-26 lead into the fourth quarter. Landon Shearer also scored 5 of his 7 points in the third quarter and Raheem Washington scored 4 of his 6 points in the third quarter as well.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThirteen different Gahanna Lincoln players found the scoring column. Jonathan Jenkins scored 5 and Stephen Blackmon added 4. Alex Campanelli, Cameron Hornbeak, Evan McNeal, and Marky Pinkston tacked on 2 each. Caleb Ervin and Joey Nevel both spilt free throw attempts in the second half to round out the scoring with a single point apiece.

This marked the first-ever meeting between the Leopards and the Golden Lions in boys basketball.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to take on the Marlington Dukes on Tuesday, January 20. JV will begin at 5:30 PM with Varsity following around 6:45 PM.
