Game Recap | Game Stats

Neff Sets the Tone from the Start

Gorgas Street Horror 2025 AdRunning back Lucas Neff took a handoff on the game’s opening play and jetted 70 yards down the right sideline for a touchdown giving the Leopards a 7-0 lead just 14 seconds into the game.

Neff would run the ball five times in the contest accounting for 87 of the Leopards’ 133 rushing yards.

Zahler Blocked Punt Produces Pawley Touchdown

Vote for Issue 37 - School Levy AdLouisville’s defense forced a three-and-out on Central’s opening possession. The ensuing punt attempt was blocked by Cody Zahler and the Leopards took over at the Crusader 27 yard line.

Two plays later, Zahler hit Karter Pawley wide-open in the left flat. Pawley ran untouched into the end zone, courtesy of a gaping hole paved by John Lowery and Drake Wilson blocks, for a 26-yard touchdown reception. Ryker Youngen booted through the extra point and the Leopards increased their advantage to 14-0 just over four minutes into the game.

Collier Interception Leads to Rush Touchdown

Louisville continued to capitalize on Central’s mistakes on the next drive. Tackles for a loss by Dominic Collier and Lucas Neff dropped the Crusaders into a 3rd-and-15. Collier intercepted a pass on the next play and returned it to the Central 32 yard line.

The Leopard offense then converted a 3rd-and-15 on a Zahler to Rush 17-yard first down reception to the edge of the red zone. After a penalty, Neff ripped off a 14-yard run before Rush ran right for an 11-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter. Youngen split the uprights again to make it 21-0.

Grimm Scores TD on Blocked Punt Return

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdCentral Catholic went three-and-out again after a tackle for a loss by Wilson and a sack by Caden Thorn dropped the Crusaders into a 4th-and-16. After a penalty, the Crusader punt attempt was again low and hit off a lineman. The ball popped back to the punter and then deflected back forward. Caison Grimm caught the ball out of the air and returned the blocked punt 23 yards for the Leopards’ fourth touchdown of the half. Youngen again converted the extra point opening up a 28-0 Louisville lead with 7:14 remaining in the second quarter.

Greathouse Recovers Fumble

Corey Street for Mayor AdA huge hit by Collier on the next play forced a Central fumble and Jonathan Greathouse scooped it off a bounce before returning it to the Crusader 24. However, Louisville went backwards on offense and turned the ball over on downs at the Central 31.

The Leopards defense slammed the door again as Wilson dropped the quarterback for a 1-yard loss on 4th-and-4. Louisville took over on the Central 38, but a pair of penalties set the back and they eventually punted.

The Leopard defense stiffened again before halftime not allowing the Crusaders to move the sticks. Collier unloaded a huge hit on the Central running back and Hunter Fetrow made a tackle for a 2-yard loss on 3rd-and-9 before the half ended.

Long Drives Come Up Empty

The Crusaders strung together their longest drive of the game to start the third quarter. Louisville’s defense made them work for every inch of it though as Central ran 15 plays and traveled just 39 yards before they turned the ball over on downs at the Leopard 31. Tyson Payne ran to convert a 4th-and-3, 3rd-and-2, and 4th-and-2 on the drive. He would amass 36 yards on 19 carries for the morning.

The Crusaders got away from pounding it up the middle with an incomplete pass on first down at the Louisville 33. Greathouse then dropped the ball carrier for a 4-yard loss to bring up 3rd-and-14. They eventually turned the ball over on downs with just 5 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Freshman quarterback Maddux Edgein then lead the Leopards on a sustaining 11-play drive to eat up more clock. Edgein drew Central offside to convert a 4th-and-5 and later took off for a 25-yard run down the to Crusader 9 yard line. However, Teddy Seery intercepted a pass in the end zone on the next play for a touchback.

Louisville Defense Preserves Shutout

Louisville’s defense forced a four-and-out on the final Central possession to preserve the shutout. Pawley recorded a tackle for a loss to set the Crusaders back on the first play of the drive and a completed 4th-and-8 pass was short of the line to gain. The Leopards took a knee on offense after that.

The Louisville defense limited the Central offense 53 yards on 39 plays (1.4 average). Ten of those plays went for negative yardage and no play exceeded 10 yards.

UP NEXT: The Leopards JV will next travel to take on the Canfield Cardinals on Saturday, October 4. Game time is set for 10:00 AM from Bob Dove Field.
