Game Recap | Scoring Summary

Pawley Powers Leopards With All-Around Effort

Karter Pawley had a standout night on both sides of the ball to lead Louisville. He rushed for two touchdowns and was a force defensively, forcing two fumbles that the Leopards recovered, including one strip-and-recovery himself late in the third quarter. Pawley’s hard-nosed play gave the Leopards both momentum and field position throughout the contest.

Pawley reached the end zone on a 3-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter to extend Louisville’s lead to 17-0. Quarterback Maddux Edgein found Anderson Jones on the left sideline for a 16-yard first down completion on 4th-and-1 to set up the score on the previous play.

Pawley later finished off an 8-play, 99-yard drive by scoring from a yard out on a toss to the left in the third quarter to put the Leopards ahead 24-0. A 35-yard completion from Edgein to Ryker Youngen kick-started the drive. Later, Jones leapt above a defender for a 26-yard grab from Edgein, moving LHS into the red zone.

Edgein and Youngen Build Early Louisville Lead

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdLouisville set the tone early on the opening possession when Edgein capped a 65-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run. Ryker Youngen drilled the extra point to give the Leopards a 7-0 lead midway through the first.

Louisville added to its lead on the next possession marching 45 yards on 8 plays. The key play on the drive came when Edgein hit Anderson Jones for a 23-yard reception on 3rd-and-9 to the Aviator 11. The Alliance defense stiffened and the Leopards settled for a Youngen 28-yard field goal, extending the advantage to 10-0 with 7:47 remaining in the second quarter.

Wooten and Bowling Record Takeaways for Leopards

Corey Street for Mayor AdThe Aviators’ best scoring threat of the opening half came on their next possession when they drove into goal-to-go at the Leopard 6. A quick pass to the left was intercepted at the 2-yard line by Jeremy Wooten who returned it 28 yards to the Louisville 30.

Later in the third quarter, Alliance was unable to recover a high snap and Gabe Bowling pounced on it at the Aviator 24. Two plays later, the Leopards gave the ball right back to the Aviators when #88 recovered a mishandled exchange. Not to worry, Pawley ripped the ball out of the quarterback’s hands and recovered it, giving possession back to Louisville at the Alliance 30. That sequence featured three turnovers in just four plays over a span of 27 seconds.

Aviators Break Up Shutout

The Leopards were unable to capitalize on the great field position and the Aviators took over on downs on their own 12. Two plays later, quarterback #1 broke free on a broken-play scramble down the left sideline for an 88-yard touchdown run, breaking up the shutout with 5:38 remaining. The Aviators failed to reach the goal line on the conversion run leaving the score at 24-6.

Pawley and Brown Seal the Game for Louisville

Alliance drove into Louisville territory on its final possession, looking to add a late score. However, the Leopard defense slammed the door one more time to preserve the 24-6 final.

Pawley stripped the quarterback on a run to the left. The ball bounced several times on the turf before Kaleb Brown covered it up at the Louisville 40-yard line to seal the victory.

UP NEXT: The Freshman Leopards’ next scheduled game is in three weeks. Louisville will travel to take on the North Canton Hoover Vikings on Thursday, September 18. Game time is set for 5:00 PM from Memorial Stadium.
