Burton Hat Trick Propels Leopards to Season-Opening Victory

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Soccer Team kicked off the 2025 campaign in dominant fashion with a 4-1 road victory over the host Field Falcons Friday Night at Falcons Field.

Burton Records Hat Trick to Lead Louisville

Carter Burton delivered a second-half scoring explosion, netting a hat trick in just over 16 minutes of play to turn a 1-1 tie into a comfortable Leopards victory.

Burton’s go-ahead goal came with 28:42 remaining off an assist from Cale Lindner to give Louisville a 2-1 lead. He then tacked on two more goals in quick succession, both assisted by Maddox Mayle, at the 12:43 and 11:59 marks to complete his three-goal performance.

Falcons Strike First, But Sanders Answers

Field opened the scoring on a goal by Ethan Flores-Soler, assisted by Nathan Fulks, with 21:45 left in the first half.

However, Louisville answered with the equalizer just 72 seconds later when Brandon Sanders headed home a goal via a pass from Burton at the 20:33 mark.

Louisville Vs. Field Boys Soccer Series

The Leopards have now bested the Falcons in four of their past five meetings dating back to 2019. Louisville now leads the all-time series 6-4 overall, which includes a 3-3 mark when playing at Field in the series.

UP NEXT: The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team will next host the Salem Quakers in their home opener on Tuesday, August 19. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow at 7:00 PM.

The Louisville JV Boys Soccer Team battled Field to a scoreless stalemate for most of the match before the Falcons broke through late to earn a 2-0 victory.

Field scored the go-ahead goal within the final seven minutes of regulation and sealed the win with a penalty kick goal with just 17 seconds remaining on the clock.
