The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team was edged by the Aurora Christian Eagles 7-6 Wednesday night in their opening game of their Tennessee Spring Break Showcase at East Robertson High School. With the loss, Louisville is now 1-1 on the season.

West Main Vet Clinic AdEven though Louisville Varsity Leopards collected eight hits to Aurora Christian Varsity Eagles’s two, they still fell 7-6 on Wednesday at East Robertson High School. John Baker and Zander Triplett each collected two hits for Louisville Varsity Leopards.

Louisville Varsity Leopards fell behind by five runs in the third inning, but then tried to fight back. Louisville Varsity Leopards closed the gap by scoring on a double, a double, a single, and a line out.

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdAurora Christian Varsity Eagles got on the board in the top of the second inning after Noah Hensley walked, Owen Niedzwiecki singled down the left field line, and Preston Morel grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.

Aurora Christian Varsity Eagles extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI walks by Hensley and Niedzwiecki.

Caleb Mayle stepped on the bump first for Louisville Varsity Leopards. The starter surrendered one hit and three runs over one and one-third innings, striking out four and walking four. Zach Zappia started the game for Aurora Christian Varsity Eagles. The hurler surrendered eight hits and six runs over four innings, striking out three and walking two.

Grayson Brunoni drove the middle of the lineup, leading Louisville Varsity Leopards with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-2 on the day.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdHensley and Niedzwiecki were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Aurora Christian Varsity Eagles. Niedzwiecki and Noah Zappia each collected one hit for Aurora Christian Varsity Eagles. Hensley led Aurora Christian Varsity Eagles with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Aurora Christian Varsity Eagles were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Wyatt Sifford had the most chances in the field with four.

Next up for Louisville Varsity Leopards is a game at Metamora on Thursday.
