Kibler and Mullett Flite 1 Champions at Louisville Double Classic

Louisville Doubles Classic Flite 1 Champions Sherilynn Mullett and Rachel Kibler

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis Team hosted the annual Louisville Doubles Classic Saturday at Louisville High School. The Leopards went 7-5 on the day to finish in third place for the tournament.

Louisville’s Rachel Kibler and Sherilynn Mullett won all three of their matches to take the Flite 1 title. The Leopards duo rallied to defeat North Canton’s Cecelia Holben and Carolina Schiltz 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 in the opening round. They followed that up with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jackson’s Elizabeth Soenlen and Audrey Gabriele in round two. Finally, they defeated Lake’s Olivia Paschke and Savannah Miller in round three 6-1, 6-1 to finish their undefeated run through Flite 1.

The Leopards Doubles Team of Bailey Menegay and Jade Thomas also finished as Runner-ups in Flite 3. They easily defeated the Polar Bears’ Jazmyne Rafique and Ellie Hirko 6-2, 6-0 in the opening round. Then rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over the Blue Streaks’ Maggie Kontour and Emma Moorhead to advance to the Flite 3 title match. However, the Louisville duo would fall in their final matchup 2-6, 2-6 to the Vikings’ Taylor Hennagin and Sarah Esterle. They took second as a result. 

The Lady Leopards other two doubles teams both went 1-2 for the day. Isabelle Menegay and Amanda Plaskett represented LHS in Flite 2. Carleen Fouts and Kylie Bowen represented Louisville in Flite 4.

North Canton Hoover won the Louisville Doubles Classic by going 10-2 as a team. The Vikings were led by Caroline Triner and Addie Haupt who won Flite 2 and Taylor Hennagin and Sarah Esterle who won Flite 3. Two other North Canton doubles teams finished as Runner-Ups in Flite 1 and Flite 4 as well.

Lake took second as a team with an identical 7-5 record with Louisville. The Blue Streaks won the tie-breaker via set differential to take Team Runner-Up honors over the Leopards. Lake was led by Grace Milhoan and Ally Levy who finished as Flite 4 champions. Sophia Ball and Emma Deluca also finished as Runner-Up in Flite 2 for the Blue Streaks.
