Leopards Annihilate Lakeside, Northwest in Opener – Wrestling

The Louisville Leopards Wrestling Team shutout the Lakeside Dragons 80-0 to start the season Tuesday Night. The 80-0 margin is the largest in the known history of the program tying the Leopards 80-0 victory over the St. Thomas Aquinas Knights on December 13, 2008.
The Leopards won 12 of their 14 matches by pin. Their other two victories were won by technical fall and major decision.
Jackson Simpson pinned his opponent in the 132 match in just 19 seconds and Jax Leonard pinned the opposition in only 22 seconds during the 160 match. Leonard’s victory was also a personal milestone as he reached 100 victories for his career.
This is the seventh known shutout in team history. Their most recent blanking prior to Tuesday came at Salem in a 79-0 shutout on February 9, 2017.

The Leopards won 4 matches by pin and claimed 5 victories separately by forfeit. Charlie Simpson (113), Davin Rhoads (126), Carter Mickley (145), and Jax Leonard (160) all won by fall for Louisville.
The Leopards scored the first 46 points of the match in winning 13 of the 14 bouts overall.
