Louisville Erupts in 7th in Win at Salem – Baseball
Louisville 8, Salem 2
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team erupted for 7 runs in the 7th inning in earning an 8-2 road victory against the Salem
Quakers Saturday. With their 10th straight regular season victory, Louisville improves to 19-7 overall and stays in the hunt with a 9-3 record in the NBC.
Casey Nau batted 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs to lead the Leopards offense. Nau helped Louisville get on the scoreboard first when he drove in Tyler Adams in the third inning. Adams used a familiar formula to manufacture the game’s first run. He drew a walk, stole second, advanced to to third after a groundout, and then scored on Nau’s infield single.
The game remained at 1-0 before the Leopards put up a rare 7-spot up in the 7th inning. Louisville strung together 6 straight hits to start the frame. Adams and Bryce Zuppe cracked back-to-back singles. The Leopards followed that up with 4 straight RBI doubles from Nau, Brody Hahn, Corey White, and Davis Burick.

The merry-go-round of place swapping finally ended with consecutive outs. But even that produced a run when Burick came home
on Brendan Hoffman’s groundout to the shortstop. Louisville would finally collect all of their insurance when Jack Davis singled home Nathan Mongiardo to make it 8-0 Leopards.
On the mound, Starter Cameron Prasco pitched a complete game, gave up 2 runs on 8 hits, and struck out 5 to earn the victory for Louisville. Prasco, who improves to 3-2 on the season, did not surrender a run until the final inning.
Salem loaded the bases to start the seventh and Joey Watson walked home Turner Johnson. Bryce Owen then reached on a fielder’s choice driving in Aaron Robbins. Prasco got the final two outs of the game on consecutive pitches after that.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Minerva Lions on Tuesday, May 15 at 5:00 PM in a must win NBC game.
