Lady Leopards Dominate Warriors on Senior Night – Girls Basketball
Louisville 64, Carrollton 24
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team celebrated Senior Night by dismantling the visiting Carrollton Warriors 64-24 Wednesday at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 14-7 overall and finishes second in the NBC at 12-2.
The Lady Leopards Seniors paved the way for Louisville’s victory. Senior Alexa Oberster scored all of her game-high 18 points in the second half to lead the Leopards. Senior Sarah Lairson reached doubled figures with 10 points and tied Ellie Jackson with a team-high 6 rebounds. Senior Danielle Walter also flushed home 3 three-pointers to finish with 9 and Senior Abby Beaver scored 8 points to go along with a game-high 5 assists.
Even Senior Emily Shea got in on the action! Still sidelined from an injury, after going hard for the Lady Leopards Lacrosse Team last Spring, Shea joined her fellow Seniors in returning to the starting lineup Wednesday Night. The Warriors won the opening tip and the referees immediately halted play. Jackson entered the lineup for Shea who got her Senior Night curtain call!

Carrollton led at the outset taking early leads of 2-0 and 4-2, but it was all Louisville after that. The Leopards ended the first quarter on a 9-1 run to go ahead 11-5. Then, Louisville’s defense held the Warriors to just one field goal during the second quarter as they built a double digit 26-10 halftime advantage. The onslaught continued in the second half as the Leopards outscored Carrollton 20-8 in the third quarter and 18-6 in the fourth quarter to win by 40.
Louisville was red hot shooting 52% (25 of 48) from the floor and a whooping 71% (5 of 7) from downtown. Carrollton was the polar opposite making just 19% (8 of 42) of their shots from the field and missing all 12 three-point attempts fired.
The Leopards out-rebounded the Warriors 30-21 for the game, which included a 21-11 advantage on the defensive boards. Louisville also registered 7 steals and 7 blocks into the stat sheet. Alexis Beaver, Jackson, Hannah Lautzenheiser, and Lairson also finished with 2 steals a piece. Erin Hahn and Walter also had 2 swats each the Lady Leopards.
Carrollton was led by Cailee Husted who scored a team-high 10 points. Maysie Rogers also tallied 6 and Jaci Pridemore finished with 5 points to go along with a game-high 9 boards. The Warriors dropped to 5-14 overall and finish 3-11 in NBC play following the loss.
Louisville has now taken 3 out of their last 4 meetings with Carrollton. The Leopards now lead the all-time series 37-22, which includes a 21-9 mark in the series at home.
UP NEXT: Louisville will conclude the regular season on the road at Canton Central Catholic on Wednesday, February 15. The Lady Leopards will clash with the Crusaders beginning at 6:00 PM with the JV contest and the Varsity game will follow around 7:30 PM.
