Leopards Tame Lions 50-15 – Wrestling

Varsity: Louisville 50, Minerva 15

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Wrestling team downed the visiting Minerva Lions 50-15 Thursday Night at Louisville High School With the victory, Louisville improves to 2-0 in the NBC.

The Lions Travis Kuttler (285) and Drake Decker (106) won the first two matches by decision to take a 6-0 lead. However, Andy Graham answered with a pin in the 113 match to knot the tally before Ryan Jakubiak earned a 13-2 major decision to give the Leopards a 10-6 advantage.

Minerva’s Nolan Smith won by a 2-0 decision in the next match, but Louisville would win the next 6 matches as part of 28 unanswered points. Both Jax Leonard (138), Michael Seaman (145), and Brock Mehl (160) won by fall to lead the Leopards run. Louisville’s Jager Kendrick also shutout the opposition 8-0 to claim a major decision in the 170 match. Carter Mickley (132) and Satchel Strickmaker (152) both won by decision for the Leopards as well.

Reggie Hancock had the Lions lone win by pin in the 182 match-up. However, Louisville would claim the maximum points available in their final two matches. Jimmy Leonard won by forfeit in the 195 match and Blake Robbins won by pin in the 220 match-up.

Middle School: Louisville 45, Minerva 40

Congratulations to the Louisville Middle School Wrestling Team for defeating the Minerva Lions tonight at Louisville High School 45-40. The Leopards are 2-0 in the NBC and 11-1 in dual meets despite replacing 5 current freshmen who are starting on the Varsity Wrestling Team at Louisville High School this year.

Winning for the Leopards were Lacy Harvey with a forfeit, Josh Hoffman with a forfeit, Charlie Simpson with a pin in the second period, Nick Sirohman with a forfeit, Davin Rhoads with a pin in the first period. Dan Kennedy in a great match with a decision, Austin Stauffer with a pin in the second period, and Noah Peterson with a pin in the third period. Wrestling really tough tonight but coming a just short were Justice Bolyard and Clay Mitchell. Super proud of the great effort!
